Hi sorry to keep asking for info on the 120 Prado but i want to make sure before I purchase a TD Prado i get it right.

I just had to replace the clutch in my Gu 3.0 litre after 10000 kms also the flywheel
how good are the clutches in the Prados and do they have a solid flywheel.
It was an expensive operation, so i was wondering what amount of km's are people getting out of their clutches and I know it depends on how you treat it,
I treated my Gu with much care and I think you should get more out of a clutch than that it has not done a lot of heavy 4wdriving .

I would have thought 100,000 was not unreasonable. Afterall they are an item subject to wear and tear, like brakes etc.

Cheers

I'm kinda hopin for 150k kms from mine but we shall see in time. I used to be happy in the old cortina with 80-100k but then i could lift the g'box out myself and change the clutch in 1/2 a day!!

The clutches in the prado are not a drama like the 3.0 patrols.
Why not take a drive in an auto. I think you will be impressed.
I went from manual to auto and I should have done it along time ago.

Sorry to but in,
Is the clutch different in the 3ltr to the 4.2ltr turbo model Gu Patrol?
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

A clutch kit is a clutch kit. You either have a push type or pull type. Not many pull types around. Rodeo V6 is one that I know of.
Its in the flywheel where they are different.
The 3.0 litre uses a dual mass flywheel where as the 4.2 uses a solid state flywheel.
The flywheel is where the drama is.
Is you have got 100 000 km out of a 3.0 litre clutch you have done well.

Thanks Cruiser,
Ithought it was something like that.
My 4.2td has done 130k and not even a shudder. Touch wood!

from my experience, having had prado's, and cruisers, 200-250k km from the clutch should be easily expected.

I dont think you will find any issues with the 120 toyota, that you may of come accustomed to as "nissanisms" with your current vehicle.
