I'm wondering if anyone has fitted one of these (or something similar) and can tell me a bit about it. I'm sure there are two sides to this issue and I would like to hear from those in the know what the results were in their experience. I've thought about fitting one, but the only report I have seen is of course on the manufacturers website. The testemonial given talks of a gained 20kw at the wheel on the dyno. Sounds good, but I would prefer to hear more "independent feedback". I would appreciate yur input.
Cheers

Hi
I hear that the new 4 litre responds very
well indeed to a unichip...check the site out...www.lcool.org
Hope this answers your question :-)

I have just put a full mandrel bent stainless system on the 100 series 4.7V8 as
well as a Unichip and according to thier Dyno tune i gained 40KW at the
wheels which is a huge increase.
Only had it for a day and i have to say it sounds great, seems to be lowering the fuel gauge SLOWER and absolutely rips.
I actualyl pulled out of a mates street and left rubber on the road, which was not actualyl intentioanl, thats runnign 33" DFG AT's.
Ask me in a month or five years whether the rest of the vehicle still is holding together lol.

ShnogDog, 10kw is the figure you are likely to get with Unichip...
One question for you - what is the reason you want to put it in for?
More power - Yes you get extra 10kw at the
wheels.
More torque - Yes more torque down low.
Fuel economy - Expect the same as before Unichip. I haven't noticed much diffrerence.
Hope this helps

Stan, I guess you could say that I'd be happy with all three points you just covered. I'm very happy with the 4.0ltr V6 as is. I would only consider the unichip if it did improve the driveability in general. So yes, I certainly wouldnt knock back a few extra kw's or Nm's. Fuel economy great for the size of the vehicle, so if there's no real change, even better... thanks for your reply.

IMHO driveability is improved quite a bit. It gets going much easier and
quicker and much nicer to drive. On 4speed Auto when going up the heels it changes gear down much later or doesn't change gear down at
all compared to the same
hill before the Unichip. If you put 4wd accessories and bigger tyres, Unichip will restore back most of the
lost power due to weight/size of the things that now carry.
