I asked this as a sideline to the the diff lock question below, but it is probably worth a whole new topic.
Is it worth retro-fitting some factory difflocks on a 98 105 Series Landcruiser (with either new or second hand units), or is it worth going after market? The Cruiser has only done 60,000 kms, so wear shouldn't be too much of an issue.
It would be nice to have the factory install look, with the fancy dial and all, but not sure if it would be worth it. Also, I'm not sure of costs, or anything of the factory units, either new or second hand.
Cheers,
Chump

As said in the other thread, theres nothing better than controlling the lockers yourself.
Air lockers are
well proven, and
well worth the extra coin. As a bonus you get a compressor, and 3 pretty gauges on the dash.
Sadly LSD is one thing Yota cant get right.. 60,000 on a cruiser the LSD (if its fitted) would be fubar.

The factory units can be switched on and off as
well.
There is heaps of info about the ARB and Lokka units, but I am trying to compare aftermarket to factory fitted, for both price and performance.

Friends of
mine have both
one has twin air lockers on his cruiser, the other has factory diff locks
the impression I get is that they both work OK, but the factory difflocks are harder to engage and dis-engage, but not sure why
