Hi there Deano WA, I had the grand vitara 2000 model with the 2 litre engine, mate top car had no problems with it at all. It was taken off road was used on the beach driven daily to n from work. Good on fuel about 10 Litres per 100 klms around town and 8 on the open road. On the other hand my mate had the v6 Ithink was a 2.5 litre and had nothing but probs. Only small things but there was always something. Faulty power steer, oil leaks (engine) , noisy tappets etc, and mine use to pull up hills better than his v6. Personally I'd go for the 2 litre but then I have heard of other people having the v6 and have had no problems. Quess it's a matter of opinion. I have had 2 vitaras 93 JLX model and 2000 Grand Vitara model both great 4wds. Only thing that lets them down is ground clearance, that why I now have a hilux. The vitaras are a very capable off road vehicle. Take Care Vitara
Ps I paid $17.000 for my 2000 model second hand and sold it 2 years later for $17.300

I had a 5dr Vitara with the G16B 1.6l EFI engine. Great vehicle. Sold it in the end as it developed an intermittent miss that mechanics could not diagnose. Pity as it was a great vehicle to drive.
