G'day out there,
Can anybody tell me the name ( if there is a name) of the track from Alice Springs to Marble Bar?
According to the Hema road atlas, the track branches off the Tanami Rd. & runs into a number of different Rds. Junction,Wapet & Rippon Hills.
A short while ago I was asking about the Tanami Rd. as a way to Broome and I'd like to thank all the responses. The trip has been changed as we now intend to go via Marble Bar( this time in a Toyota L/Cruiser, not an XG ute).
The purpose of this question is, we need to know the Klms. between the two points for fuel capacity, and to be able to find it in Explore Oz Treknotes (hopefully).

Thanks People & cheers.

Hello - not exactly clear what you want as you appeared to have answered , at least in part your own question. Gary Junction Road leaves the Tanami Track, then the Jenkins Track, then Wapet Road, Telfer Mine Road and finally Ripon Hills Road into Marble Bar...about 1650km total from Alice...not bad when you consider as the crow flies it is 1480km. I dont think the route has a particular name but I could be wrong. Some Permits may be required.
Cheers
Greg
I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

Also I see on some maps that Gary Junction Road is referred to as Kintore Road (from Tanami Road to Kintore near Sandy Bight Junction) and then Kiwirrkurra Road (or Kiwirrkurra Desert Road) to Gary Junction/Jenkins Road.
Keep your eye out for Night Parrots
Cheers

Hello Wiilem
Never seem one myself (to busy looking for possums in south west) but I live in hope. Person I know, fellow Zoologist, saw one several months ago - they're out there - just not advertised for obvoius reasons...so my comments were only half a joke...look out for real fat budgerigar!
Cheers

Fuel can be bought at Papunya, Kintore, Kiwirrkurra, Kunawarritji and Marble Bar so you can work out your requirements.

Night Parrots are for real but are VERY rare and have only been seen on occassions. They are not related to drops bears or hoop snakes but if you drink enough port at night you may get lucky and see one...hahahaha
