I was looking at some Eldorado tyres about 6 months ago.

www.eldoradotires.com

Company history as follows.

"Founded in 1966, Eldorado Tire was established in Michigan by Kelly Calamari, as a member-owned private brand tire company. B. F. Goodrich originally supplied its tires and Eldorado became a pioneer in the private brand industry.

In 1970, Eldorado made some changes and began selling the brand to non-member distributors. Five years later, The Cooper Tire and Rubber Company became the exclusive manufacturer of Eldorado Tires. Since then, Eldorado has sold over 25 million tires nationwide.

Treadways Corporation acquired Eldorado Tire in 1995. The corporate offices moved from Troy, Michigan to the Treadways corporate headquarters near Philadelphia, Penns- ylvania in 1999. Eldorado now has over 90 distributors that sell to hundreds of dealers all over North America. "There's an old saying about how the company you keep says a lot about a person. Well, the kind of dealer that represents Eldorado says a lot about our brand. Eldorado dealers are well-known and respected quality dealers. They are leaders who place tremendous value on relationships loyalty and respect. Strong relationships are the key between Eldorado and our dealers, as well as between those dealers and their own customers. That mutual trust and respect has allowed dealers to build their business"

In Brisbane 6 months ago I was quoted about $200.00 a tyre. Cheaper than coopers but supposedly the same quality.
Aussie wholesaler is tyres4u. - www.tyres4u.com.au

Very interesting the way marketing is done on tyres.

If you believe that Coopers would allow another company to use the same moulds to make this tire, then sell it for 1/2 the price of the Coopers, you should hand in your license right away.

Just covered over 12,000km in the outback, the majority of blown tyre carcasses laying around were not the well known brands.

Stan,
PROCOMP and Cooper are made in the same factory, but PROCOMP have higher quality control specs than Cooper. The factory as a contractor builds to the customers specs and you get what you pay for.

Even more information.

"Treadways is making tracks in the US tire market. A subsidiary of Japan's Sumitomo Corporation, Treadways is one of the world's largest marketers of private-brand tires. Originally formed to import and market Sumitomo brand tires in the US, the company gained its independence from its parent's sales organization in 1985. The company sells tires made by major manufacturers such as Goodyear and Cooper Tire & Rubber under brand names including Laramie, Telstar, Eldorado, and Centennial."

Just add jetzon tires to that as well!
