Hello everyone, on my July trip thru Cameron Corner, Innaminka and Birdsville on some of the track that had been cut up because of rain my Jack transfer case kissed the earth a few times.
There is no bash plate on mine between the front of the engine and the transfer case which means the sump looks exposed. There seem to be provision for one to be bolted there.
Can some who knows, or can have a butchers let me know if they have one.
Thanks
Will

Sure do Willb, I have a 98/99 TD there is a protection plate under the transfer case. May have been removed for easy access to drain and relube the box and case. If you are going to use the vehicle in areas where clearance is an issue it would be advisable to fit one as the transfer does certainly hang a bit low and smack in the "pivot "point between front and back wheels.

Willb

think you will find the fantastic people at holden removed it to be serviced one day and never put it back on. I am missing two of mine, was always serviced at holden. A guy i met you used to be a holden service manager said they have heaps of them lying around, I would try a holden service place

Mine had the transfer case bash plate right from the start - I swing it away when doing the oil - the one that appears to be missing from the front of the engine sump area never was there. I assumed that it was a cooling thing for Australia - seeing that it is a "world" vehicle. It'd be just like those manufacturers to take it off and do bugger all else.

er .... forgot to say that our trans cases are really low compared to many vehicles in the class - damned poor design in my view - that plate is important.

Willb I would be looking to get one back on there. I think the first thing to check while it is off is the exhaust connection to the headers. If you have kissed the dirt a couple of times you would have hit the exhaust first and it may contribute to the losening of this.

I found when removing the restrictors that the connection was loose.. A couple of bumps on some logs you know.

Cheers

Just realised yours is a diesel, so the exhaust may not loop around the tail shaft like mine.
