Afternoon all

Bonz has requested an update on the Troopy heater box saga which when he last looked was scoring Heater Box 8 to LUCY 2.

Well after removing the minimum bits and pieces as advised by the very friendly Toyota man, I could actually see what had happened to the Air flow controlls - not much other than a cam jumping out of a guide and jamming up. Nothing broken.

So I un-jammed it and re positioned the guide/cam and spayed it with a can of liquid white lithium grease (From Bunnings) and connected the cable.

Holy S H I T! works better than it ever did.

Put all the air ducts & dash mounts back in etc etc and then had a 'annimus horriblius' session refitting the dash switch panel. So many additional switches and wires now that the mother wouldn't go back in.

Anyway I finally get it back in and tried it out - just the same as before.

i.e. jammed.

Bugger!

But being the calm cool sort that I am, and now knowing how the sucker works in there, I identified that a cable conduit was the culprit.

When everything was replaced(pushed) back into the dash this little T U R D was slipping in under one of the cam levers and jamming it.

Sooooooooooo! switch dash panel out again and another 2 hrs or so of re routing all the cables and conduits and refitting it.

Bingo! all okay. and didn't cost a thing other than hrs of 'man sweat'.

Finished at 1.00am

Glad it was a Toyota and not a Nissan as I believe that the whole dash would have had to be removed. etc etc. and I would still be working on it. (LOL)

grrrrrrrrrrrrr dont talk to me about heaters.lol
recently bought the wife a new non 4wd vehicle and guess what no heater.
phoned our local dealer and will take around 6 weeks for parts to arive from over seas.
couldnt wait that long so i pulled the glove box out and found that the cable to open the heater wasnt pluged on but the bit where it clip clips onto is bust but at least it works for now.
cheers

You would be surprised how easy it is to get the correct bits out of the Nissan when you need to Lucy. Will be one radio out and anotherin this afternoon in less than half an hour - in dash radio!

I thought I had associate member of the Yota family mafia with two on the farm Lucy, along with the Falcon, Nissan, Rodeo and Suze. John Deere's and the Clarke too of course, and my garaged supercharger. Now the dash out of that would be hard!

Had it been a Nissan it wouldnt have broken Lucy you know that.

What I want to know is how you SPAYED the thing, being a country boy I know what trouble that is on a Toyota expecially when the steel balls hit a filling!

Damn! your good.

Taken you 2 days to find that one.

Did you sleep last night or just set the spell checkers on automatic until your puter finally found the little sucker.

Whatever, I hereby withdraw my inference about the 'Terang water' being the culprit for your 'super charged intellect'.

Now I am with you on this and Roachie can confirm that I have seen the error of my ways.

To atone for same I am going to get me one of those GU 2001 3.0L terror machines, and then I reckon I'll get the troopy to do rude things to it.

Then you will see how the thing got spayed. (ROFLMAO).

This is the best biy of all this.

The Troopy heater box wasn't broken either, 'she' just decided to give me a test run on my skills of removing and replacing the centre dash module. (Bitch) I can now do it blind folded.

Are well, such is life.
