I am looking at buying a Nissan Patrol 7 seater Station Wagon to tow a 21 foot caravan weighing approx. 2300kg and also to tow a 23ft boat weighing approx 3500kg. I have found 2 vehicles that I am interested in and would appreciate some advice as to which would be better suited. I am looking at either a 2001 4.8L Auto TI or a 2003 ST Manual 4.8L. Any info would be appreciated.

There are some really nice extras in the Ti you might like over the ST.
IMO the auto is better for towing then the Manual , and I think the 4.8 can tow 3500 kg's whereas my 4.5 Ti auto is 2500kg. I think all the manuals are 3500kg.

You do realise that those 4.8 petrols are hugely thirsty, especially when asked to work. If you have the funds to afford a TI, then I would look at a Tojo factory turbo intercooled 4.2 diesel 80 or 100 series. They are a superior tow vehicle and also return a very economical fuel consumption rate, that will pay for itself in the long term.
