Hi All,
We are heading to
Lawn Hill next week for a 2 week holiday (3 days up, 8 days at
lawn hill and 3 days back). Have researched heaps of websites but most are touristy and basic. Wondering if anyone has been there and can give first hand experience on great things to do and other things to avoid. Also can you hire the canoes from the NP
camping area at
lawn hill or do you have to travel a bit to get them?
Also has anyone fished the
Gregory River and
Lawn Hill Creek (outside of NP boundries)? What can you expect (will have yabbie traps as
well)?
Regards
David

Hi David
Had the pleasure of staying for three days at
Lawn Hill NP several weeks ago. Take you trip up and back alittle slower as 8 days is possibly over kill.
We stayed for a night at the river below the
Gregory Downs Hotel on the
Gregory River, great swimming, not sure on fishing. Plenty of fish in the river at the NP. Canoes are available at the NP. Bock for the NP before you leave, and if they say booked out, then check with the
ranger as the booking system leave alot to be desired, we were told booked ou and yet we could stay for 3 nights and the
park was not full.

Hi Grungle I was up there in july but I stayed at Adels grove. From reading other posts here it seemed to be the place to stay. After seeing the NP
camp ground I was much happier at Adels grove. You have your own fire place and tap. Adels grove have the canoe hire at
Lawn Hill $10 an hour.

Also the
Riversleigh fossil D site is close by and cost nothing and worth a look.

3 kms down from here is the Miyumba
bush campground on the
Gregory river.

hi grungle.........stayed at the NP a little while back, loved it, even though adels is nice and just down the road, ......its just down the road, and i like to be right at the place that i have come to see if possible. Once you are there you wont have to get into your vechile, every thing is close....[
water, canoes walking , swimming.] The fishing can be good in the
creek and river for sooty grunter, they will take baits ane lures regularly......but how many times do you hear that...lol........they are there all year round but will be a bit sleepy in the colder months.....anththing else you would like to know about the area, give us a call......we live in nth qld and travel the area a lot

Hi All,
Many thanks for the great information. We have already booked our
camp for the 8 days but with 2
young kids, shouldn't have any issue keeping them occupied for our time there. Will definately pop into Adels Grove and Kingfisher
Camp on a couple of side trips whilst there for future
camping trips.
Cheers
Regards
David
