Hi,

How do you lock down things in your tray??? Am building a canopy to house the fridge, batteries and some boxes of gear. It's a timber tray and I guess I can bolt the fridge and battery but let me know if there are any alternatives. Also a way to stop the boxes of gear sliding around and jumping about, only way I can see is to attach some anchor points to the tray sides or the floor, means more holes.

Any ideas.

Thanks

The inside of my tray is fairly organised with fridges, dividers, _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx, shelves etc, but pretty much everything is held down to strips of slotted angle, or steel 100x100 mesh dividers.

Cheers

Thanks for that, will look at the angle method and see if it suits. Have you just screwed the angle to the tray??

I use M6 bolts with washers and nyloc nuts, so they won't come adrift. The 6mm holes aren't that big.

The slotted steel angle has the slots spaced every 50mm, and take the 25mm wide tie down straps nicely.

Hi Aus,
I used to have a hilux with a steel tray and wooden floor (the best combination in my eyes) And I used to just screw everything to the floor using tech srews for wood, that way you can use a battery drill to install and remove. I had a couple of boxs I made out of marine ply , one I stored my outboard and saftey gear for the tinny and another one on the other side for general bits and pieces. There was still enough room in the middle for a couple of jerries. And dont worry about the screw holes as they tend to close up in the weather when not in use but are still visible for next time. So just screw away!!!

Hope this helps, Athol

Another idea is to get those flush mount "trapdoor" type handles with a ring pull that rope or tie downs can be attatched to.
Fitted flush at strategic locations in the tray floor (just chisel out where you want them to fit in) use countersunk bolts,
load up, and tie your load down to the floor and its nice and secure.
When not in use they just sit flush.
