I bought my trailer without a kitchen box and am now trying to decide how to make the kitchen. Anyone got any good ideas?
At the moment I am thinking of basic rectangle mounted onto the tailgate, have a front panel that lifts off and mounts on the side to extend the length of the kitchen top.
If you have any good pictures of your kitchen could you email them to me at MartyB@bigpond.com.

thanks
from Marty.

Here's another site worth looking at. I have one of these (the 200 model) and it works a treat. They have kitchens that you can attach to a trailer as well.

Go the Drifta. We have one in our trackabout. Just done over 17000ks with it. Works a treat. Even if a little dust gets in the trailer none gets in the kitchen area the way ours is set up. It is attached to the tailgate. We fit all cultery in one draw, Plates and proper scotch glasses in the second draw - we brought it extra. and the third space we carry the platic crate which fits in the proper coffee cups although i keep them in the box they came in which has cardboard strips betwren the cups and also 2 wine glasses plus 2large glasses for softdrinks. In the sink container which most of the time I remove to the table to wash up although it works ok on the shelf it sits on, I cary all washing up things , cloths detergent, clothers detergent, pegs. Under that I keep 2 different light fry pans for the gas stove plus cuttingboards. The on the other side is the pots and billies.

I'm halfway through building something of a similar design to the previous responses, however I have made two changes to the construction. I have made a frame of QBElock and I am bolting 5 ply over the frame. This saves all the joinery and is lighter. I am also using a plastic set of _Affordable_Storage_Drawers.aspx which fit snugly into the shell. This saves a lot of weight and building fiddling around.
While the construction seems very rigid, I am using 3 big right angle brackets to carry the weight and bolt the unit to the inside of the trailer door. I might have over engineered this aspect a little.

Mate - image one doesn't work. Looks good on trailer in image 2. What material did you use? What's the inside look like (or is that image 1)?

Its 12mm ply.

Its not marine ply , or anything fancy. It was some cheap Brazilian ?? interior plywood from memory. Cost me $35 for a 2400X1200 sheet.

Suited me , and pretty happy with the end result.

As you can see from the piccies , the "lid" of the stove swings over , and becomes a bench.

I dont leave the stove there for cooking , it just travels there. I have a seperate Fold out Bench for cooking (like one of those Aluminium slate Tables).

We bought our camper without a kitchen.... (its a Cavalier circa 1994 model) and have a Coleman Camp Kitchen The pictured here is from their American web site, I think they are about $400 or so Aus.

The benefit is simple.... you can put the kitchen wherever you want to in your camp site..... so if it's raining, move it to the centre of your tarp.... heck, put it up in the trainer tent if you can!!! very portable and for us the best thing is that we are not cramped up in the corner of thge trailer.

Hope this helps.

Hi Marty,
try loking at some of the ideas on the yahoo campertrailers group site (http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/campertrailers/lst?.dir=/Kitchens&.src=gr&.order=&.view=t&.done=http%3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/). You may have to join the group to have a peek, but that wouldn't be all bad. Our preference was for a slide-out kitchen unit, which we made and is featured as one of those in the above. Both the slide out and tailgate mounted can also be set up separate from the trailer if you make it that way-just stand it on a couple of crates. we didn't, but we could have.
Happy camping,
Mike and Jan.
