Getting ready to set off on a couple of weeks holidays, loaded up the Waeco with the meat this morning and find tonight that it is all frozen, keeped an eye on the voltage and find with charge on it is going down. Checked all normal faults, emergency switch is off, outside temp 23o, but if I have it on above setting 2 it will not stop. Anyone had this problem, would be nice to know what it is before taking it back.
Cheers Bruce.

Haven't had the problem but I would suspect that the system is low on Gas. Either that or a faulty thermostat.

At ambient 23 she wouldnb't have to work too hard to freeze the meat. Check what temperature the thing is getting down to. If you want to freeze for any length of time you need to be down around -15 degrees.

More likely the thermostat. A shortage of refrigerant would show up regardless of the setting on the stat.

Only way it will shut down now is to turn it off.
I wander if Waeco will give me a loaner while they fix this one, can only try or it back to ice, oh no.
Thanks for the info, Bruce

Geoff M
could be short of gas...a system short of gas will run longer but cannot achieve or make temp to satisfy setting of thermostat.....but could also freeze the product. One needs to know what the cabinet temp is.

2 weeks before you go....geez they could build you a new one in that time, let alone fix it!!

Bummer that with the trip at hand.
You could always try switching it on and off at regular intervals. Only problem being is it likely to die completely mid trip.

check the emergency switch, a small red slide located near where the power cord enters the fridge, if it is turned on, the fridge will freeze all the time.

Talked to the people at Waeco this morning and was told it probably the temp sender unit which is in the casing, but in the 80/110 they put a spare in , so only a 1/2 hour job. Seems it a bigger problem in the 50's so all units now have a spare.
Heading down to the Gold Coast for them to fix, was going to be down that way a later but thats not a problem. Anyway hope that the trouble.
Cheers for now Bruce
