Hi all

Having just bought a set of the Uniden UH060 hand-held UHF radios, I've not found anything in the scant manual that discusses charging - other than it takes X hours to charge them in the first place.

My question is whether or not people just tend to leave them on pemanent charge in their cradle, or do we have to worry about overcharging them if they aren't removed as soon as they are charged.

In my mind, the cradle is great to keep them topped up in on a desk or shelf near the door. If you need a radio you grab one on the way out. As you return from outside you plonk it back in the cradle to 1) charge it and 2) keep it in a known place.

What do others here do?

Hi Chrispy,
Your question prompted me to send uniden an email seeking an answer.
I have the same set and need to find out myself.
I will post the reply when I get it...thats if we dont get one from the forum first.

Hi Crispy,
Uniden came back really quickly and their reply is pasted below.

"You can keep them on the charge cradle as long as you want, as once the unit is charged to full capacity the unit will cut off. A general charge after use (with the battery completely drained) will take around 10 hours."

Thanks for asking the question, I would still be whinging about this months down the track if you hadnt brought it up.

Hey Jeff - that's great news!!!

This means that I don't have to worry about over-charging batteries... or losing handsets. It also means that whenever you grab a radio and run - you have a fully-charged one in your hand! Nice!

Cheers and thanks :)
