Hi all, just spoke to my mate that lives up the top end and has updated his fleet of hilux's to the new one's when they were released, reckons that 90% of the ones that do the hard corrugated tracks are already starting to show fatigue in the roof above the doors. He said he has sent a few back to toyota to be inspected as to what the fault is. He said that the paint as well as the frame above the tops of the doors on the actual roof are cracking on both sides of the vehicle. My mate has always ran the hilux's in his fleet and has 2 cruisers.Runs the hilux's as they carry the tools and crap they need for doing the repairs. I think it's a hydrolic business. Said weight is not the issue because the ones that arn't doing the rough suff carry the same weight if not more doing the local stuff. Reckons it's the last lot of hilux's he's using, going to the nissan navara's next time. He's going to let me know the outcome from toyota, bit of a worry. Regards Vitara

Should of gone the Navara's this time and saved himself a small fortune. This to go with the front end problems in the 100 series is not looking good for Toyota.

That may be true of the current model, but Nissan is updating it soon and the replacement could go the same way Toyota has gone - down the flimsy road.

Poor design can be perfectly built but would still crack.

They used to be a work ute but now according to Toyota they are an AUV, action utility vehicle.....what the hell is that... Even with the pansy looks Toyota say they are stronger and still unbreakable.
