I have a 12v mozzie coil that uses 8watts. Was just wondering if one of you educated sparky type people could tell me how many amps that would be.
Thanks in advance

just thought you may also want to see it this way.
W=AxV
A = W/V
V = W/A

Power(in Watts) = Voltage (in Volts) X current (in Amps).
So current = Power/Voltage or 8/12 which is 0.66 Amps

Divide your watts by your volts.
8/12 should work out at about .66 of an amp. Most "12 volt" systems are a bit more than that so the eqaution will vary depending on the state of charge of the battery or whether it is running off a "12 Volt" power supply which will be up to about 14 volts depending on the overall load.

Hi, The formula for Amps is P/E, where P is power in watts, E is voltage.
Gives you 8 divided by 12. Which equals .666 A or approx 666 MilliAmps.
Check out this Link
Hope the link works and the info is useful to you.
