Hi,
Just wondering if it is still necessary to take a bucket to access the
water in the wells when travelling the CSR ?
Thanks in advance

Always carry a bucket. If you are worried about space go to Jaycar and buy a collapsible bucket for $14.95. They work
well.
Well 26 has been restored and there is a bucket on the end of the cable. I recall that
Well 46 has one as
well. At
Well 22 (
Georgia Bore) there is a handpump. Only did part of the CSR this year so cannot comment on all the wells.

Phil
We carried a galvanised bucket the first time we did the Canning. We found that where the waters were quite deep down the
well, say 40ft or more, we had to tie a spanner to the bucket handle so that it would tilt over so that
water could run in. A collapsible bucket should be easier to handle bu5t if it doesn't then tie a spanner to it :o)
Cheers

We were there 3 weeks ago and we had friends with us with a collapsable plastic bucket and you simple carry a roll of 6mm nylon rope and tie a shifting spanner to the bottom of the bucket on one corner to get it to sink in the
well. Buy a clear plastic one as this allows you to see the colour of the
water.
Approx every 3 to 4 th
well has
water suitable for washing so I carried a canvas shower and tied it up in a tree or on a nearby post to shower.

The real popular
places are depleted and generally you go for a walk and find small branches to have a not so big
camp fire. Wood in small size in
the desert area did burn quickly but as you drive most days we found that after a sit around the fire we would general head for bed around 8 to 8.30 .We tried not to burn any large timber as animals need shelter. eg Pierre Springs,Durba Springs and the reconstructed wells are the most popular camps.Durba Springs - We walked around and found enough to have a small fire each night. My ph is 0438602533 if you want to give us a quick call.
