I work shift work and after driving home this morning I have woklen up to discover I had left the lights on thismorning and my battery was flat!
Is there a way of installing an auto lights or power off system like what the commodores etc have?
How long will it take to charge a battery on the nissan!
Thanks

Well now we know how much Toyota charges for their auto lights off system.
Thats why the Toyota's are 20 grand more.
No but seriously I would try your local auto electrician.

Its a 2000 model nissan patrol 2.8 diesel. I think I will talk to the sparky about hooking something upto the ignition.

My spark quoted about $60 forthe job and the same amount to make the windows go up and down without the key.
$120 to make life easier, sounds OK to me. Just got to convince the accountant

Although not an automatic off, I got a "Headlight on reminder" wigit from Dick smith, small flashing led and audible sound. $10 or so. 1/2 hr job for the handyman.
Cheers

Our GU doesn't have any warning system either. I have a bad habit of leaving the headlights on when I get to work in the mornings (its dark when I leave home). After several flat battery incidents, hubby bought me one of those jump starter battery packs. Cost about $40 from SupaCheap and has saved my butt several times as
well as others. Prevention is better than cure though so we intend to install one of those buzzer warning devices - about $10 from SupaCheap.

I've dunnit so many times that I now check the light stick before I turn it off, no matter what time of day !!!
Having said that, my 2000 3.0 GU has squawked at me once or twice. te he

rather than having the switch side of the headlight relay source its power directly from the battery, why not just move it to the accessories side of the ignition so that the relay shuts off when you turn the vehicle off? Not sure of the impact of this though, but I thought about doing this on my Hilux
or is there some fancy doover that plugs into the factory loom to achieve this?

You could run a relay from the accessory circuit to switch the head light circuit whent the ignition gets turned off like the commodores.
