Stuck in Hedland
Just taken delivery of a '95 80 series gxl turbo diesel, 95l + 190l tanks. Filled up both for a little bit of performance research. Unknown to me the reserve
tank button was pushed in and after a quick 450km
Port Hedland-
Marble Bar return run the gauges haven't moved. Anyone have any ideas of how to fix this with out having to go to a dealer.

I would say that maybe the fuel guage in the big
tank may not work until it starts to get low. I had an FJ45 with a big
tank. The fuel guage did not give an accurate reading, accept to let me know when I was about to run out.

Thanks. 190l

Mine does the same. Gauge only starts working when you get down to the bottom half of the
tank. You should see it starting to move within the next couple of hundred km. Enjoy the feeling - it seems to drop down fast when it does start moving.
Cheers

mine does the same too. Gauge only moves when there's 55 litres left.

I have the same thing, I am guessing it is because when the
tank was fitted they have just refitted the same 70L gauge which does not have sufficient travel for the 190l
tank? not sure as it was on the car when I bought it.
I have been throwing around wild theories of changing the intenal mechanisms, I am not sure what type the sensor is though. if it is a swing arm then lengthening the arm should solve the problem, so far it has not bothered me enough to get too carried away.
because of the limited travel it depends on how it is calibrated as to how the gauge will read then, I know from driving that I get approx 200km's before the gauge moves, 600kms over the full to empty then another 400kms after it hits empty, so I set my trip clock when I fill up and change tanks when I hit 1200kms. This allows for a fair bit of offroad work in this figure.
just remember to close your eyes when paying for a full
tank :-) The much loved
shop-a-dockets only cover the first 150l

Hey, Not the 'Yotas fault. Both myself and 'Hedland must have bought our rigs off "Nissan drivers in waiting" that didn't do the installation right.
