I got a new waeco cf 50 last week and have had it runing in the kitchen, It makes a loud gargeling noise when runing. Its that loud it can be herd over the sound off the tv, When I rang waeco they said this sound is normal, When I said its that loud that when I go camping I`ll have to turn it off at night just so I can sleep the response was "yes". Anyone else have this problem? If I can here it over the sound of the tv at home whats it going to be like at a quiet camping spot?

My 80l doesn't gargle but you can hear the twin fans whirring away.
It would not be loud enough to keep me awake but you will certainly know its there

Go to one of their showrooms with the fridge in the car, see if any of the floor models are making the same noise as yours. If they are'nt, well then, take yours in and ask wazzzup!

Good Luck I hate buyin stuff that doesn't do what its supposed to

Hi Crewser,

we've got a cf50, it's running in the kitchen area now, and I can't hear it at all, we've also got a 70L which lives in a slideout drawer in the CT and I certainly don't notiice that running either. I'd be taking it back.

Hi Crewser, I've had my cf 50 over 2 years now and the only noise I can hear is the compressor/fan purring away. Sleeping in the vehicle for weeks on end, it's never kept me away yet. But I do only run as a fridge (1-2 degrees) and only 12v if that helps you at all. If it makes that noise running as a fridge I think I would be looking for another... Regards, Peter.

That's crazy crewser. It sounds like they went to the same school as most car dealers. Take it back, tell them you want it fixed.

My CF50 is called 'Darth Vader' by all you sleep in the spare bedroom where it takes pride of position when not in the back of the Patrol.

Your's should not be that noisy so take it back to a Weaco repairer and sought out the problem there.

My CF 40 is the same but is not too loud. Bit like a Darth Vader sound!

It is like every now and then it cycles some liquid in the compressor somewhere. Yes I do hear it when it is in tent near me when sleeping but I have tuned it out after a few trips.

My big fridge in the kithen makes similar noises at times and I have also heard my father's CF50 do it so I have accepted this as pretty normal.

Cheers

Sounds like the problem is some felt fibre washers that sit behind the fan. Mate had issues with a 110 and it chewed the condenser coz of these little buggers. Take it back and stick it to em,
cheers

It`s not in the fans as noise continues for few seconds after motor turns off. I did`nt think this noise was "normal" as stated by waeco, I think I`ll get back onto waeco tommorow and get it sorted
thanks everyone

I run a CFC 50 in each of the work cars and we run them 24 hrs per day when out on the job. Never heard one make a noise like that. They do make a quiet whirring noise when on and the occasional gargle when the thermo trips out the fan but I would be taking it back. I have had a couple of warranty issues and Waeco have been fantastic at repairs. One time they phoned my local repairer who fixed it on the spot no questions asked. I couldnt be happier.

If its only a few days old you want another one - not a repair - I have a CF60AC and all I can hear is the faintest of whirrs ! It too is only a few days old. Best of luck. Don't be put off.

Crewser,

I've got a CF80 and even out in the quiet of the bush the only way to tell if it is running is to put my hand near the fan outlet to feel for airflow.

They're telling you 4 and 20's.

Cheers,

Jim.
