Anybody NOT heard of any problems???

There are heaps of threads on this problem if you do a search.

Well known problem. Take it to a Nissan Dealer and tell them to replace the engine, and that you know of the problems and tat Nissan will do it for free.

I cannot believe this question.
Any one buying or considering a 2000/2001 model must be a masochist.
Every one knows (except the questioner apparently) that the early GU 3.0 litre burns out its pistons around 80,000 to 120,000 kms.
Nissan knows it too,but still denies the problem preferring to keep selling them through their dealers and letting the poor purchaser run the risk of failure, and then giving them a new motor to shut them up.
This way only a percentage have new engines fitted saving Nissan a recall and heaps of dollars.
When they are going they are a great performer and very frugal on fuel,if you must buy one buy from a dealer , send a letter to Nissan immediately saying you are aware of the problem and wish to be registered for a replacement motor should it fail.
Regards

Thanks to all for your replies - Of course I am not considering buying that Model, already drive a TI 4.8L series and have absolutely NO problems, just enquiring as a result of something I heard. Many thanks.
