I off up the Darling next week for some male bonding with No. 1 son.

Are any EO members aware of where I would find dry ice (to help the overloaded Chescold for the first week) and cryovaced meat in Mildura?

Many thanks.

Hi george, Dry ice is availible from most of the big ice makers in your area but you will have to order it. As for the meat go to the butcher and get them to vacume pack the meat and that will stay good in the fridge for about 1 month, I think. Check with the butcher befor you get it done.
I hope this helps

Thanks Steve - much appreciated.

It's reassuring to know that I can rely on the 'fridge for that period of time, rather than on my fishing ability.

Hi George_M,
Not sure of where you are travelling from but there is a great butcher in Mildura...I think they are called Warburtons, on the left side of the main Calder Highway into Mildura just before you hit the main drag for the city. The shop is next to a large pie shop.
The prices are sensational and they do cryovac for you if you are prepared to wait a bit. Best to go when not too busy.
Absolutely great value for money and good meat as they kill their own.
Hope this helps and sorry I can't advise on the ice.
Cheers.

Thanks Peter.

I spoke with the guys at Warburton's Discount Butchers at Mildura this morning.

They were friendly and efficient, and are able to process orders in half an hour or so.

Thanks again!

George

Thanks Sarg.

BOC Gasses at Mildura don't have the equipment to make dry ice, however they put me on to the BOC dealer in Ballarat (Gas & Gears) who does.

When I rang the guys in Ballarat, they told me that they can make it up on the spot.

Many thanks!

last time i tried dry ice it made all the fruit( especially apples) taste like soda water and had a fizzy sensation my fridge failed and tried to extend the ice with a pack of dry ice
others have said i should have had the fruit in plastic bags to prevent this
