The clearance on the prado is quite poor. What methods of are available to give some lift? Will 50mm affect road handling alot? Is there any way of having adjustable lift eg pneumatic?

Hi Jon,

There are a couple of very good Prado related groups on Yahoo that may be able to provide some answers for you.

Jon,

Road handling will depend a lot on the type/brand of the suspension you get.
If you wanted the adjustable lift then you probably should of got the VX or Grande
model, although they are not suited well for offroad because of the air bag suspension on the back...

The best suspension I seen for the Prado is the Bilsteins shocks/Lovels springs
setup and it is actually improves handling a fair bit compared to original suspension
and much less body roll (if any) on the corners

Also have a look at www.lcool.org and 120 series forums

Hope this helps,

Stan

LOL.. I was bout to say.. Check 120scruisers site... has good info on this and other 120 Prado matters, but he beat me to it.

Following an earlier post I am looking at going for the Lovell springs for 50mm lift front and rear, and keeping the OE shocks for now. I'd rather do this and upgrade the shocks later, and have a quality suspension set up, than go for a cheaper option straight away. 120s says the OE shocks are pretty good.

The biggest issue you will have is the angles of the front CV's when you go over about 2.5" lift. This is common to almost all production 4x4 with IFS.

However there are several vehicles with 4" or more running around.

Theres recently been some discussion on this topic on the Toyota Prado list at
