Jimbo
After packing my 82 litre fridge for the weekend I'm wondering if it is too small.
The contents
A dozen cans (obligatory)
2 bottles of Shampoo
a bottle of soda
water
a bottle of cordial
a bottle of
water
a big chunk of ham
bacon
a litre of Tomato Juice
a block of cheese
2 dips
cheese slices
yoghurt
milk
4 cans of lemonade
cream cheese spread
cream
chicken sausages
chicken fillets
dimmies for the 12V oven
carrots
brocolli
lettuce
avocado
celery
I need a bigger fridge for the extras.
Cheers,
Jim

he isn't quite as bald as me Shaker, hence 2 bottles, but you are right, why in the fridge? I usually take a cheese or two I want to age too, so they stay out of the fridge. Live and yummy.

I am seeing your problem you are putting stuff in the fridge that doesnt need to be there take this stuff out
shampoo
cordial (if it is undiluted)
water (Nothing worse than freezing
water when you are thirsty) also in this weather it stays cool enough
Tomato juice - isnt it in a tetra pack or can so it doesnt need to be put in until used when a few cans have been knocked back
carrots
brocolli - dont need to be in there just wrap them in newspaper
Also milk for what? if it is only for cups of teas then get those single shot tetra packs

Davoe, we usually have two litre bottles of milk in ours, (1.5% fat and no fat) a litre of juice, but NO vegetables. The only fruit that may be there is cut fruit like papaya or something. I agree, wrap it in newspaper or the green bags

You can borrow my 110, might have to leave the missus at home though... that being the case, you can take 247 cans and forget all about eating for the weekend...

Yep , its got me stuffed how people can survive with little fridges? Maybe a single guy could cope ok, but we always manage to fight for space in our fridge too, and like you mate a dozen beers is the minimum in the fridge.

Nah- even single blokes struggle with the 80L fridge. By the time you migrate the bar to the fridge, you hardly have enough room for the breakfast, lunch and dinner roasts! I guess I could replace the roasts with VB though... I heard there was a steak and iggs in each stubbie.

Jumbo
For your edification, I believe I've got it sorted ... much to herself's disgust.
The old 40l Chescold has been designated as the tucker fridge. Which means I get to claim the 60l Waeco as the beer fridge.
Works perfectly for me ....... :o))
Cheers cob

Jimbo ,you need to get yourself a "baby" 15lt Engle ,, that way swmbo can have the 80 for the space wasting yet not unecessary food and non essential soft drinks ,and you have the 15lt for the essential tinnies , easier to lift in and out of vehicle for the day trip from base
camp and very short turnaround in the beer / shampoo chilling stakes. ,LOL.

Plenty of canned stuff in the camper; peas, corn, beetroot, potatoes etc.
Like to keep the lettuce, celery, tomatoes fresh and crisp, and ceratinly don't want the avacado to overripen. Have to have 2 bottles of shampoo cold incase one has a dud cork; her indoors wouldn't be happy watching me sucking on a cold beer whilst she has nothing to drink and fair enough. And she doesn't like UHT milk.
Ice cream? Then I'd have to run part of the fridge as a freezer and reduce the amount of beer I could keep cold LOL.
Cheers,
Jim.

Trying to get a bit serious, I've got a 35lt bushman and find it adequate for the two of us. The trick I use is to have the smaller packets of items and not to try and have everything cold.
For example, fruit juice. If you have a two litre carton of OJ, just having a glass at breakfast, it will probably take a few days to get through. Problem is that when you are half way through, you're still using up 2 litres of space for 1 litre of liquid.
I use the small bricks like you put in kids lunches. Buy a six pack, put two in the
fridge, keep the others in the tuckerbox. When you take out the two for breakfast, put in two of the warm ones, which will be ready for the next morning. I do the same with drinks, rather than keeping a whole slab cold, only put in 1/2 dozen or a dozen, as you take them out, replace them with warm ones.
Just my 2 cents
Grinner

After reading all the replies I can only suggest that you buy a Toyota.
It has the best airconditoning of all 4bies. Turn it on full blast and wear thermal clothes inside the car.
THEN you will be able to cool down slabs of beer, champagne and cheese and never go without!! lol
