I've been shopping for a another 4wd cheap to use as a "play toy" but also as a back-up unit. I am wondering how many K/m on the dial is to much even for a cheap beater.

I found a early F60 4.2T with 300,000k for a couple grand but you can tell from the add-ons and spring wear this rig was "well loved" and run hard.

I know engine K/m value on 4wd and street cars, however the F60 im looking at has seen some hardcore "work". I have not hard run a 4wd long enough to really see what 300,000k can do to a motor under constant heavy conditions.

Can anyone tell me what compression ratios would read on a 4.2t with 300,000 driven normally v/ a 300,000 run to rags ....thanks

My truck has 301,000 on the clock and is like new( well, I have replaced some bits lol). It motors well and has good paint apart from the scratches. I have found that around 550,000km 4bies start to fall apart. I have had to rebuild two petrol engines around the 380,000km mark. Normally diesel engines will go 500 to 600 thousand without much worry. Some 4bies are reputed to give a 1,000,000km good service if treated accordingly asnd serviced regularly.

For a couple of grand you cant go wrong unless you buy an Austin Champ :o)
