He should have a look in the age or tradingpost to get a feeling for what it's worth.

Also go to www.rebook.com.au and also "Carsguide" (search on google Australia) has a used car valuation area.

Will give you additional info as well as other idea's mentioned on the forum.

He'll be VERY dissapointed.

Im in the process of buying exactly the same thing and they are plentiful and very difficult to sell. I can pick and choose and then offer stupid prices. Only need to beat the dealer by a couple of hundred bucks when someone's desperate to sell one and the yards aren't exactly rushing to put them on the lot. The current media frenzy on petrol prices has caused panic selling amongst the very best ones - eg: immaculate, one owner units, never been off-road shopping trolleys etc.

If you pay more than $35K for one, you're just not looking hard enough - simple as that. The $20K difference in price from the equivalent TD buys a hell of alot of ULP when you consider there's only a few l's/100km's in it.

Forget Redbook values, he just won't get it. There's a dozen of them each week appearing that simply don't sell. Don't have to believe me, just buy the AutoTrader mags and look over a few consecutive weeks. See what's still there each week. Asking price and selling price are two entirely different things.
