Hi,

Just smashed a rallye 2000 spotlight even with a set of clear protective covers on. Any ideas on better protectors??

If you've got a set of those white covers you don't want can you get back to me. I guess it might help at least during the day.

The thick self adhesive stuff works well on the PIAA's (very good but very $$$) and Hellas on the front of our Ambulances. The stones hit them harder and more often than most of the vehicles on here given the speed we travel at, and or lights are surviving better with that stuff on than they used to. Having said that a large enough rock has to do some damage.

Amazing how many people think they are doing us huge favours by pulling right off into the gravel and showering us with stones when we approach from behind at speed.

All they do is risk their own accident and break our windshields.

Just slowing down and moving over a bit is enough. No need to head for the scrub.

Their intentions are good - and at least they were using their mirrors, it's amazing how many don't.

Were your protectors very old? I have the IPF one's on mine but often wonder whether they will get brittle and less effective as they age.

G'day,
the adhesive stuff I use on my rallye2000's is called "liteskinz" (not sure of the spelling). I find its very good. I hit a roo at 90, and pushed the lens and reflector unit right back into the body of the light without breaking anything. Since it clips in I was able to put it back in place and it still works fine.
Cheers,
Alex

I'd recommend sticking with the hella covers. I have them on mine now and they are working well- one is gone though so Im not sure if it was stolen or broken from a stone. Prior to getting them I got 3 stone chips in my pencil beam lens. After fitting I have had no damage.

Dave- have you noticed if having a thick layer of material over the front of the spotties effects the heat dissipation? That was the only thing I was worried about, so I paid a bit extra and got the genuine ones.
