WA. = 100kph max or posted speed limits.
All other states = posted speed limit.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

I think it can also go down to 90km/h when they get over a certain weight.

Yeah the cop's are Becoming real Fuc*whit’s around hear now, My dad spotted a traffic cop who had pulled over a priest the other day and was giving him a really hard time, Now I am not religious in any way but the guy was a priest, I think he deserves a little respect. Dad just about went over to interfere and have a word to this young cop, but by this stage he figured there was not a lot he could have done so left it alone.

Then the other week I watched as a traffic cop pulled over a elderly bloke who had done berley anything wrong. Then not to mention that I Regularly see traffic cop’s pulling people over in the roadwork’s at 5:00am on the freeway, come on there is no one even working there at that time, and even when there is they are hardly working anyway.

No wonder the police force is getting a bad name recently. and none of it is about safety or saving lives, It’s just about getting there quoter and revenue rasing for the government.

But back to your question it’s 100. Play dumb next time; it has worked for my uncle 2 times, both on double demerit weekends.

Why should a Preist or older person be treated any different than anyone else. If they break the law they should be treated the same.
As for roadworks, the limits are there for a reason, if you don't want to get booked the obey the law and do the posted limit.

They should not be treated any differently, but at the same time the cop has no right to give them a hard time and belittle them.

“ The guy is a priest and the officer should show him some respect and the cop was being a dick and giving the uniform/ police a bad name”. Quote from my Farther a police officer of 28 years and still serving.

The limit is imposed to protect the workers and at 5:00am when there is hardly any traffic and no workers working, a 60 or 80 limit is a joke. The work is all taking place in the middle in-between the north south lanes on the new train line so there is no roadwork as such to the freeway itself.

There's always one that crawls out of the bamby brigade cupboard isn't there!
Exploder didn't have a problem with the priest being booked, it was the hard time he was being given that he was objecting to.
As for the roadworks speed limits, some "common sense policing" wouldn't go astray.
My guess is that your the type of twit that jambs on the brakes to slow down to 40kph at 4.30am in a 100 zone where there's a couple of witches hats on the fog line with a B-double bearing down on your ar$e, just because there's a 40kph speed limit for 100mtrs.

Exploder ,
I did play dumb and say I was from NSW where the speed limit was 110 . But he said "your in WA now mate" . when I could see I was not going to get off I said " well I hope we can be as considerate to you when you visit us " - I felt better after that !
Perhaps they could put up a sign at the border at Eucla telling the drivers of the hundreds of trailers / caravans a day that cross into WA and are blissfully unaware they are breaking the speed limit .
I just need to know now what the law is in all the othet states now.
Cheers ,
Willie .

According the the WA hand book all tralier and caravans are limited to 100 kms

check out page http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/licensing/publications/driversafebook.pdf page 58 as far as I know this applies to all states. how ever as more states go towards the national System the limit will increas to 110.

It is 100km/hr for all vehicles towing trailers in WA, which follows the national system brought in about 5 years ago. My understanding is that under that system the speed limit for vehicles towing trailers is the same in all states - 100km/hr.
Prior to the national system, the WA limit varied according to the weight of the trailer being towed. Up to 750kg was 100, and over 750kg it was 90km/hr.
In any event, there are large signs displayed at various points within WA and on entering WA that give this information.
BTW, I'm not a cop.
Happy camping,
Mike.

G/Day
I think in SA a trailer/caravan is listed at a 100kms hr, but they seem to turn a blind eye to it at 110kms hr. In event of accident may be another question.
Some vehicles are only listed to 80kms hr when over certain load/weight.
Cheers

It's only since discovering this forum that I realised that limits applied in some states for trailers. I reckon if you cross a state border and you are not notified of the changing state of play, you should not be able to be fined. Why should we have to try and think of all the differing scenarios and satisfy ourselves that we have researched them to the enth degree before we head off for a leasurely break. Even with the advent of the internet, getting the correct "interpretation" of a rule/law is nigh on impossible. Has anyone given thought to whether or not the individual manufacturer has imposed a speed limit on the tow vehicle given varying circumstances?

The following quote comes from HERE

" Ford only permits 100km/h if the load is less than 1200 kg. At 1600 kg this drops to 90km/h. The speed further reduces until at 2300 kg, 80km/h is the maximum. " I just checked this against my owners manual and sure enough it's correct.

It has a plywood floor between the two steering column braces. Sticks out the width of the seat and tapers to the front... The trusty golf buggy wheels have been replaced by pneumatic jobs... Some fat bugger(who strangely looks not dissimilar to me) went and destroyed them...

Abolish the States. They are a useless tier of government that achieves nothing, and has to be funded through taxes and fines.

OK, but let's have one government and not nine as we have now. Take the ACT government (please): a town of 300,000 would normally be run by a town clerk and an engineer. But the ACT has a Legislative Assembly, Ministers for this and that, Departments, and thousands of public servants, many of whom spend their time collecting revenue from the residents to fund themselves and their grossly overgenerous super schemes.
Same goes for Tassy and the NT. And WA for that matter. Throw in SA, QLD, VIC and NSW while you're at it.

The speed limit signs are so in your face when you cross the border, with words as well as pictures depicting any towing vehicle has a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h when entering WA, regardless of wether the road limit may be higher (110 km/h).
Ignorance is no excuse for traffic infringments when travelling interstate.
Btw the sign (in lanscape format) is about 4.5m x 3m, how could you miss it???

Cheers,

obedient speeder, Dion.

I didn't see any signs. And I was issued with a monetary reminder for towing a box trailer at the 110 posted limit (which the officer informed me was legal in all states except WA).

The local Sunday rag in WA had a story yesterday quoting the top cop for Traffic Ops., saying WA drivers are arrogant, impatient and lazy!
The Sunday Times invited readers to send in their comments and so I did.
I couldn't agree more with the cop, but if he was to add incompetent and then apply that to his own officers whose own driving leaves a lot to be desired, he'd be more correct.
If they've got the authority to hand out tickets they should be setting an example of how it should be done.
As it is the average driver knows they are highly unlikely to get a ticket for anything except speeding and break just about every other rule in the book.

Get a ticket for driving across multiple lanes to exit the freeway, or get to the righthand lane as soon as they enter the freeway, no signals except occasionally to confirm what they've just done, weaving through traffic, tailgating, lousy road positioning, using the wrong lanes on roundabouts, forget it, the only thing the cops are interested in is speeding!

He also said they have to get rid of the perception that they (the police) are not on the roads and in an effort to improve driving standards they have advertised for more speed camera operators, some of whom will be country based.
Now that will really improve things, won't it?
What a farce traffic enforcement is in WA.
