In 1991 the Prado was no more than a blueprint in the Mitsubishi drawing office. It didn't hit the streets til 96

Gidday Bob,I have severley slapped myself around the head for doing that.It was a 2001 Toyota Prado and I hope Mitsui had nothing to do with it.
Thanks I will now insert the right query,

Not sure about 91 but there was an earlier Prado to the one we got through Toyota. Not nearly as popular as the Surf. Looks like a wagon version of the 75 series but smaller.

Good reliable vehicle (2001 that is).
Check whether its had the ball joint upgrade. That was the only recall, and applied to post May 2001 90series from memory.
Thats above average k's - expect to get it at a good price.
Cheers
Phil

The Prado TD is a good all round performer, and reasonable economy (up to
11 km/L). Many mechanical parts (not
suspension) are similar to the Hilux.
The Prado TD has the heavier manual gearbox than the 3.4 V6. Just check if the recall has been done for the front ball joint rubbers (its free from Toyota)
There's more power to be had if your that way inclined.
I'm happy with
mine, but alas its end of lease and has to go - pretty much kitted out.
