trailer axels tube vs leaf

i have just brought a 87 jayco dove its an on road model and i wish to rase it. it has a tube axel and i dont know if i should just ad blocks to rase the tube axel or put in a leaf sping axel as i dont know how good the tube axels are

The tube axles must be OK because yours have lasted 18 years already.
The van probably has no mounts for springs and it may be best just to raise the current system with blocks.

ok but we are planning trips to morton and stradbroke and dont know how good or reliable tube axels are will thay hold up in of road placers ?
