Just wondering if anyone out there knows where you can get a taller 5th gear kit. I have a TD Sahara and all the gear ratios are good except 4th is to close to 5th and the engine revs to hard down the high way.

Try 'Marks Adaptors' they are in Vic. He is into gearing etc for 4WD. He has an awesome 80 Series.

His web page is www.marks4wd.com

If in QLD you could try gabba gearboxes, they were very helpful with all the right answers regarding a 100 series I used to own. They are in Woolongabba Brisbane.

Thanks for your help. Know one in Aus has ever heard of one. I ended up getting intouch with a company in the middle east that does some awesome stuff.

There are a few options;
1. change the 5th gear cluster = expensive
2. change the H range ration to an overdrive instead of direct = expensive
3. fit larger tyres - not so expensive & easy to reverse

Arent the Sahara's supposed to be AUTO??

Thanks for for the ideas

I have fitted 33'' tyres and that has helped a lot. The problem is that 5th gear ratio is to close to 4th. I don't want to change the overall ratio ie high ratio but i can't get hold of a larger 5th.

Most of the early 80 series Sahara's are manual.
