Have been receiving conflicting information on replacing front seats in my 1996 80 series (standard) with seats from GXL. Some say they bolt straight in and others say special brackets must be manufacturered.
Another alternative I believe is to buy imported seats (maybe Celica seats) from wreckers and have them fitted. Has anyone any experience in carrying out either of these options and /or approximate costs involved? I am in Perth.
Thanks.

As just not long done this excercise myself, I got my seats from just toyota wrecking @ $350/pr, had to custom make brackets to bolt to l/c runners. It's the second 80 i've done this to. I think the std lhs inside runner is wider apart prob to cater for being a double seat but maybe if the gxl seat was complete with mounting legs to the floor they could just bolt up( just measure to make sure)
??? why gxl seats ?? thats what we just took out, as we have bad backs 2hrs was the limit & thats from new. good luck
