maverick on gas/petrol

my 92 maverrick is on duel fuel an as gas is the cheapest i run it on gas 90% time
more like 97% and i haven't run it on petrol for some time now and when i did in the weekend it didn't like it, would only go with foot hard on floor and run like a bag full of bleep bleeps. my own fault i know but what i want to know is if i take carby off and cleanit out will this be enough, or will it need a over haul as this was done 14 mouths ago up in
weipa. i haven't been using it a lot as i have a work ute. your thoughts please , and thanks. peter d

Try some carby clean (spray stuff in a can)first off. Unleaded fuel tends to go off after a while & gums up the carby. Do you run it completely dry before switching to gas?. Fix the problem & then make sure you run it at least once a week on fuel for at least 10 K's.otherwise you will have this recuring problem

I have had a
sedan on dual fuel since 1986.
Yep! bought it in 1982 and still have it.
It has run LPG basically since 1986 and I used to have to have the Carby O/H'd every 12 mths to be able to run duel fuel.
Gave up doing that about 1989 and it has been pure LPG since. (LPG became availble all over the place then)
Because the LPG is 'dry' and runs hotter, the seals etc in the carby dry out and go FUBAR as Truckster would put.
The left over ULP disappears very quickly.
End result - seals cactus, all moving parts wear rapidly.
All the moving parts on my LPG fired vehicles carby rattle like hell now, however it fires up instantly and doesn't miss a beat, even though it is now relegated to train station, dog mobile status.
Filled it up the other day and it cost a whole $16 with a coles fuel docket.
To answer your question:
Yes! you most probably need to have it OH'd and if you want to keep it duel fuel operational, I would strongly suggest running it on petrol at least once a week.

I fyou want to keep carbi in good cond but dont like the bill running it on fuel heres my idea .Switch it to petrol before you stop for the night this way you get 8-10 hrs of fuel in the carbi depending on how long you sleep for this keeps the seals and dia soft and only costs you the amount of fuel to keep the bowl filled do this once a week and it will b fine for years...

I had an old 351 XC Fairmont duel fuel, didnt run it on petrol for ages, then one day I decided to flick over to gas, not long after, no go. I managed to idle across a main
intersection and stop on the middle island, lifted the bonet and near chit myself for the amount of flames, could of cooked a whole lamb. Some money from NRMA and a couple grand later, all fixed, but straight gas only. Problem was, because no petrol was in the carby for so long, the gaskets dried out and the carby leaked like a sieve when I flicked over.
As mentioned above, flick to petrol in the evening, then flick back to gas the next day, and so on.

you may find the seals have dried out and are fubar. Happened to a mates F100 351, didnt run it on gas for about 4 yrs, and it was stuffed

B 4 stripping the carby - try a week with a full carby of unleaded overnight.
Might soften the seals up.
My LPG manual, which I received when I had it converted, says to do this once a week to keep the seals soft.
