Evening one and all...
Just wondering if any one has had anything to do with the led lights that are very similar in apperance to the Versa lights that their selling through 'Deals Direct' at the moment. They appear / sound reasnable but I didnt want to be the first bunny to buy one to find they arent as good as they sound... any info good or bad would be helpfull before I decide to part with the hard earned stuff.
Can have a look at the following link...

Thanks,
Boo.

Haven't got the rechargeable unit, but I do have a 90 LED unit, with a 12 volts fly lead.

Load of crap.

Each time I use it, more & more LED's don't work, and it's a very directional light.

I've gone back to my fluro's.

Cheers

For 4WD applications, perhaps a fluoro light is a better idea. The LED's come good when you are backpacking and need a small light that uses little battery power, or on a small boat where battery power is not plentiful.
I have a cluster LED light (home made) on my boat, its OK to find my way around in the cabin at night, I could even read right under it but I much prefer a warmer colour light for reading. The LED light is a harsh blueish white and the individual LED's have a quite narrow light beam so one needs a good sized cluster for a reasonable spread.

Power consumption of the LED cluster is good, around 0.2A, while the twin fluoro I also have takes about 1A from the 12V battery.

I agree with the statement that LED's are overpriced.

I bought one of the LED wands for camping, Very "blue" white light, fairly bright, uses .5amp per hr, all the leds still work.
Haveing said that, they are VERY directional, and a bit hard on my eyes. Found a good deal on an ARB (versalite type) flouro and bought it, it did a much better job of lighting up the camp site, and I like the flouro light white better than the blueish white from the LEDs.
Personal preference really, but I did like the low power drain from the led, but IMO the flouro give a better light.

Fluro's will give you more illumination for your buck. LED's still cost to much.

yer I saw them and reckon that rechargeable is more trouble than ots worth in a camping light, better to go for a fluoro. Primus are really good and theyre reasonably priced too

I have a KK camper trailer with a led strip inside and one for outside (40&20 leds on each) approx .3A each and also a light set up with two swivel fittings that house two MR16 globes(replaced with led cluster globes -$20.00 each) for a total of 1.2A with all going . This gives a fairly good light output while having a small drain on the batts . Fluro's give a better light but a bigger drain on the batteries so less length of time before a recharge needed.
