We are upgrading tents due to our 2 rugrats starting their camping experience (age 2 & 4). they will not sleep in a separate tent, so we are looking at a 2room tent.

We are looking at possibly the OzTrail Sportiva Outlook - 2 room size - 435x220 (the smallest 2 room tent on the market that I have found). Any comments re ease of finding a flat site to pitch it??? Its ok in caravan/camping/holiday parks its more the bush bashing sites.

Any comments on the Oztrail brand. What about the sunlight???

The Great Outdoors brand has also be recommended by a retailer, but its smallest 2bed tent is 450x2.4. there is also the DMH brand who's outer fly (I've been told) is one of the best - but again the smallest 2 bed is HUGE.

Any advice would be great.
Thanks

another option possible on some tents would be to have the one single room tent and just hang a divider either tarp material or lightweight material/dble sheet cut down in size.
perhaps have a look at some on display and see if possible
cheers

We used Oztrail for years (without kids) before recently upgrading to Black Wolf Turbo.

Never had a prob with it. Easy to get up and down, withstood some pretty severe weather and packed up nice and small. Certainly lets in more light than the Turbo. Given how much we used it (including being set up for up to two weeks in scorching 40+ degree heat) I am surprised at how well it held up, little bit of colour fading and that's it.

hey hey g'day

just a bit of input here, i purchased a dmh tent a couple of years ago and used it once on the south coast of n.s.w. but it did leak a little water in a decent rainfall (no tarp over it) and the i couldn't get the fly to fit correctly, a problem that was also evident to some other campers in the same park at the time with the same tent.... i returned this tent to the point of sale and exchanged it for a sportiva headland (was going to get the oddysey but was huge) and it fits my wife, my 13 y.o. daughter and myself in with 2 double air mattresses and heaps of room for clothing bags (1 big each) and thats just in the bedroom, which does come with a room divider if required.... the other part of the tent is just as big where we could put all our other gear after dark ie: eskies, stoves, table, pushbike etc etc or could alos be used as another bedroom with plenty of access to all areas.... the main feature that i wouldn't do without is the tubbed floor that includes the whole tent area so that water and insects are totally deprived of entry....hope this helps...

regards robs

Hi Pug8

We have an oz trail which we find easy enough to put up and take down It's the sportiva I think the double dome. Just like puting up two dome tents realy. Quaility is excellent, sleeped through a storm in the Vic highlands and not a drop come in. The foot print is big but has not stopped me camping in the flinders, down the river and in camp grounds around the pink lakes. It takes the 4 of us 25 min from stopping to sleeping. (2 addults 2 teen girls).

Sounds like the rug rats will be od enough to help in a few short years so i will just get easier.

Having traveled stoppingevery night is nicer to stop for a few days and use it as a base.

Thanks to you all for your responses. We viewed the outlook last night and made our purchase based on the good advice we recieved onliine and through friends. Still a little worried it might be too big, but it will certainly suit us with the kids and our gear.

Thanks again.
