Hi,

Am planning to put togther a frdge enclosure and was wondring if anyone has done this and if so how they have done it and what have they used. Firstly credit must be paid to Eric as he come up with the idea. Currently the fridge sits on the frdge slide and every time I move the thing in and out stuff falls into the draw below. I would like to stop this by building something to go around the fridge. I guess what I need is details on how to and what to use. Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Nick

I have made an enclosure over my 60l Engel for the back of the 80 Series. It is made out of a 10 x 10 SHS frame with carpeted ply over it. There is about a 50mm gap between it and the Engel. I have also added a computer fan to remove any hot air that bulids up over the Engels compressor. I have pictures that I will try to paste below (tried, but it didnt work - email me at Drew.Grant@det.wa.edu.au and I will send some pictures that should help)

ps - it works great and I am spewing that I didnt do it earlier...

Back of my Pajero. Basket was $30 from Howards Storage, ply from Bunnings and a few screws and brackets.

John,

More info please? How is the basket fixed to the barrier? Cable ties at the front and two brackets onto the cargo barrier mount I think? I guess also that the ply is fixed with aluminium prifile and screwed?

Thanks

Peter

Go to the top of the class :-)

Front edge of the basket is attached to the barrier with cable ties only.
Rear corners are attached to the barrier mounts (grab handle mounts) with some brackets fabricated from an old piece of aluminium I had lying around, and high tensile bolts.
Ply is attached to a piece of aluminium angle with high tensile bolts (left overs from the blister pack bought for the brackets) and attached to the drawers using the original bolts that hold the top of the drawer on. (positioned to hold the ply up off the fridge slider).
Two angle brakets are attacthed to the top of the ply and cable tied to the bottom of the basket. Thought of using metal clamps for this but the cable tie method works fine.

This unit is made to be easily removable and quick to install (takes about 10 minutes) as I don't have it in when not travelling.

First time I used it was for the EO get together in Birdsville, which included a 3wk tour around north and west QLD. Best thing I ever built :-)
Means you can carry a lot more "stuff" in the back without it getting too messy. Also keeps fridge vents clear.

Cheers.....
