Giday all, having bought a GQ. from
Perth, I need to get it over here,[driving it is not an option] The cost of a transporter varies between $800--$1700, most of them train to
Adelaide than truck to Brissy,I would prefer it to be on a truck nonstop to brissy, but thats about $500 dearer than train & truck. My question is ,has anybody done this exercise, if so any probs. or DAMAGE etc.[the vehicle is fitted with a lot of accessories] Hope I dont get too many horror stories... thanks for your help
Phil..

perth , as trucks looking for back loads etc . not sure if this applys to vehicles . I was quoted by one operator 1300.00 bris. to
perth and could take up to 11 days. so am very interested in the train option, but not sure who to contact .

Giday dmech,
I jis went through the yellow pages, most of them are truck & rail. tnt was the cheapest at $800 that includes ins. & a full insp. at the start & end of journey. The cheapest direct, was from a mob in
Perth $1100 so u might get a good deal for a backload ,'cordons' .I did ring ''backloads.com but they wer'nt much cheaper.. hope this helps. Phil

Phil,
I am in the Army (not for much longer) and everytime we move we have our second vehicle transported, the last move was from
Canberra to
Perth and was done by Australian Car Transporters. I had no problems - the car arrived in one piece and they washed it before delivery.
Defence use these guys most of the time and I have never heard of any problems.
Can't comment on cost as the Army paid for it's removal.
Karl

Phil,
I moved a company commodore
sedan from Bris. to
Perth last Nov. It cost $850, so am guessing that is now cheap. I also bought an LC 100 series last year from
Perth, took a week holiday and drove it to
Brisbane via Nullabor. Best holiday I had...cheers....

I think I have a possible solution.
As I understand it. Phil is in the Sunshine Coast needs and needs a vehicle transported from west to east and DMECH is in
Perth needs a vehicle transported from east to west.
This is my proposal.
Someone drives the vehicle for DMECH from
Brisbane to
Perth and then pickups the vehicle in
Perth for Phil and returns it to him at the Sunshine Coast.
Each of them pays for the fuel and any caravan
park fees (as many roadies as possible to keep costs down) for the accomodation. In addition to this, they get a small but moderate payment to cover costs of any out of pocket expenses and they get a free trip each way and each person gets their vehicle transported.
As long as the time frames are suitable to each person and they get a few days at each end, I see no reason for this to not work.
Only consideration would be insurance, but as I see it, this could be a win win situation.
Bye the way, I will put my hand up for this mission.
Phil and DMEC, its up to you guys. Do your sums on fuel costs and check with your insurance whether you are covered for this type of situation and if interested, reply via
forum and I will give you contact details for follow up discussion.

GIDAY Cruiser,
That would have bin a great idea 6-8 mths. ago, but the cost of fuel at the mo. means its about the same as transporting, plus accom. so I think I'll stick with the transporter at this stage, thanks for the offer but.
Phil.
