I see the post regarding CALM and Kimberley Camp hosts. Do remember that if they get an excess and what you want is not available then each dry season dozens of remote places in the Kimberley are also well worth a try.
Places doing tourism can be looking for camp caretakers, part time gardners, dishwashers, cleaners or people to do anything often for only a short time in peak season but full season work is there to be had as well.
Plus also some want station caretakers including during the wet season, basic mechanical knoweldge is pretty important for that though. If the genny gets a fuel blockage you need to be able to help yourself with the roads being closed.
There is also a call for odd trade jobs to be done. Times, conditions and pay on offer vary hugely. It can be a bit like the CALM caretaker positions a lot of people treat it more like an experience than a full time job and it lets you have some great experiences while living on the places.
Having your own camper can be a big advantage as well, as almost all of us run out of staff accommodation for the 4 week peak season. Anyway keep it in mind if wanting to pick up a bit of work while long term traveling.
cheers, Anne

Hows the fire goin? been a kiwi, I fined it hard to comprehend the massive area that has been destroyed. But I hope you all can recover, & the area remains open to RESPONSIBLE travellers .. best of luck

Hi Phil,
Not just us either, dozens of places up here look for helpers.
Fire still going strong taken out lots more country & now seems to be swinging around and come back in from the West at us as well.
If you want to see where it is there is an excelent site NAFI.
North Australian Fire Information.
www.firenorth.org.au/
Easy to use, when page loaded, on left side click on arrow beside
North West Australia. Will drop down choices.
Click on Wyndham East Kimberley.
When it loads use the mouse to drag a box over the area you wish to see closer up, ( may need to click on the plus in looking glass under map first) it will load again and you can see the underlying map as well. From the colors shown you can trace where the fire was & when. It jumped the Drysdale River again today.
cheers, Anne

Hi Anne -

Seems to be a 'slight' change to Drysdale, last I was there getting supplies and trailers repaired for KWA about 5 years ago, after our drivers had st*ffed them on the Gibb.

Keep up the good work.

Go for it

Chris
