THe pto speed at idle is only about 100 RPM, to get a compressor to do anything useful at that speed you would need a large industrial unit, it may be to big to fit under the floor. an early model milking machine would pump at that speed but only about 20 psi. Eric.

Eric you can buy PTO with different gear ratios. You can also buy air compressors with an SAE mount that will direct couple. Just dpends on what size air compressor you want. You need deep pockets for these air compressors.

rob ,hi this has nothing to do with pto's but a car rotary refrigerated comppressor like you use for your air conditioner can be used as an air compressor my father has used one and connected it to a gas bottle with a pressure cut out switch and it works very
well,it could be mounted of the engine and use the clutch to switch it on or off

I would be VERY careful using an old gas bottle such as an LPG bottle unless it has been purged correctly with an inert gas, as compressed air and LPG can be the recipe for a big bang.

You can buy truck air tanks from wreckers for $40 why would you risk your life on a bleep ty old gas bottle?
