Bought the 3 way fridge from Repco. Cooling performance on 12 V and gas satisfied me - no compaints. But every time running on gas it smells awfully gassy, not only a bit.
Does somebody has some experiences with it?
By the way - Repco's excellent return policy - forget it!
No way for exchange without sending in for a check (takes a long time) or buying a new one in the mean time.

there certainly should no gas smeel, other than the normal smell of gas combution. Check your gas connections with soapy
water, if they are OK, ask Repco if they will be liable in the event of an explosion caused by faulty manufacture.

In NSW under our Fair Trading laws you would be entitled to a full refund if the product is faulty, does not meet the description, or does not do the job intended. If it stinks of gas, it is faulty - ask for a full refund (no, actually insist on a full refund!), and if they argue the point threaten to contact the Dept of Fair Trading. If they still don't comply, then ring the Dept - and do it on your mobile in the middle of the
shop with a very loud voice!!
When they come rushing over to give you your refund, accept it graciously, then walk over to the display of 12V fridges and buy the same one again!! Then explain to them how much time and trouble they could have saved themselves by exchanging the fridge in the first place!!

I had a bad one, then replaced it for a new one no questions asked at Parramatta. There's a very slight smell, but nothing too drastic. Mind you, there was quite a bit of smell first time whilst it "burnt in" let's say.
Don't forget to keep ventilated and use silicon tape over all gas fittings. (You're probably doing that already, just thought I'd mention the bleeding obvious)
Cheers,
Smocky.

Many thanks for all advises.
I taped all connections at the first installation, except the electrical one ;-)
...and checked it after running the whole day on gas. The gassy smell comes definitely out of the fridge itself.
As advised, I'll bring it back to the
shop and distributing some stress among the shopmen seams to be an excellent approach ;-)
By the way - the mentioned Repco
shop is in Brookvale NSW.
