Our next trip takes us along the Gunbarrel once again, a great trip it is too. This time we are going to look out for a turn off which apparently goes up to Well 35 on the CSR and then to 80 Mile Beach along the Telegraph line.. I have been told it is called the Callawa Track as opposed to the Kidson Track which runs almost parallel for some stage.

We are thinking of perhaps 3 vehicles so that we can take a load of tyres and spares and fuel.

Has anyone been on this track and if so can you offer any thoughts, advice etc ?

David

i would have thought he (Peter) was talking about Len's track from well 35 to the old telegraph track,
Len pushed this road through in 1963 using the grader only,
it was part of the Gary Junction Road, when he got to the old telegraph track he traveled down to Callawa and the rest of the crew turned around and finished grading the track back to well 35.

There is now a Plaque at S21 29 55 E123 21 14 put there by Connie and Ann (August 2004) showing were the track is (and you can see the track and the graders windrows)

Maybe talk to Connie they have been doing tours along the track they were out there when we did the Kidson (wapet) track this year

No worries Peter,

Also when you reply to an answer us the little Post Followup button that way it gets located in the correct portion of the thread and I get my email alert. This is the button I used to send this.

The Search would have worked if you used Site Search on Callawa - I will have to check if it can work out the difference between track and road - Our treknote is road and you wanted track - I know the Forum Related Keyword system would not find it as it needs the trek name to be 100% correct - Ah the joys of trying to make the navigation, lookups and cross referencing system all hang together.

Enjoy
