i just want to thank everyone who replied to my post "can anyone suggest a nice caravan park on the north nsw coast".
I took mr magoo`s advise and stayed at lake ainsworth caravan park at lennox head.We loved it and stayed for 8 days, enjoyed the ballina river festival, kids loved the tea tree lake and, yes, the sunsets are beautifull over the lake. The park is clean and friendly and had outdoor movie nights for the kids.It has been a long time since we had seen kids out playing on their scooters and bikes just like when we were young.(we had to buy 2 scooters so our kids could join in the fun)Agree that byron is lovely but, over rated.
We stopped at hallidays point for 2 nights,
But our paradise was found at nambucca heads! WOW
Watched dolphins and whales up close .Went fishing and,, caught fish.Had lovely walks along beach ,kids went boogey boarding for first time and met alot of lovely people ,2 of which we will be keeping in contact with.
Oh well ,reality hit today we are back home and it is cold and raining, and i have lots of washing to do tommorow, now i`m dreaming of my next camping adventure!!

sorry have to add,
our 1999 jayco camper doesnt like rain! At goulburn and lennox Head we had rain and our beds got wet! My partner brought a waterproof liquid from jayco at coffs harbour but we still had leaky canvas. It was dryer to stay in the annex the water beaded off that ,

Did the canvas leak or did your bedding touch the sides expecially your pillow. When raining we always try to make certain nothing is touching the sides but unfortunately during the nigh when asleep the pillow always seems to move and you get one wet pillow.

hi Robyn
it was the canvas that was leaking.as all the canvas that is on the camper was wet, even came through onto the curtains! The water was dripping down the insides of the bed ends.At first we thought we had been touching the sides like you said ,but it was everywhere. When you pay alot of money for a good quality camper ,you`d expect it to be waterproof.

If this is a new camper you would need to pre wet the canvas to make it waterprof, what this does is take up all of the holes around the stitching, pre wetting of canvas can take up to 36h of solid rain, you may find that after it dries from this trip it will have stoped leaking.
If it does not stop the manufacturer may not have used a waterproof thread and the water is tracking through the thread, by painting all the seams with a good quality weatherproof should fix this, in W.A we have a local product by Peter G which is excellent and would fix your problems.
Hope this helps
