Hi there Trev, we go up there quit often, you can enter
the beach 2 ways first is by lavis lane, were there is a servo on the corner at a roundabout thats a bit harder as it can be quit boggy sand wise but I have never had any trouble getting in that way but takes longer to get accross to the
water or the second way in is up at Anna bay where you can virtually drive straight onto
the beach. Down lavis lane end of
the beach is the ship wreck closer to Anna Bay end is the tin city where they are old fishermens huts about 5/6 for memory 1 bloke I spoke to has been there 27 years. The average air presure with a lot of the people I have spoken to recomend about 15 psi. I have had no trouble with that pressure some people go as low as 12psi but you do run the risk of running the tyre off the rim.But if your in a prado 15/16 should be fine. Make sure if your going to play on the dunes that you take care when going over the top as I have seen some very close calls and some actually hit.Running a flag would be a great idea if you can get hold of 1. You need to purchase a day pass which is available at the garage at Anna bay or Lavis Lane end at the roundabout. It can be quit hectic up there sometimes, just watch out for bottles, as a lot of low lifes leave there crap where they finish, especially if you have kids running about. If you want you can send me your email adress and I can send you some pics. Take Care have fun and also you only need high range. Have spoken to a few 4wd tour groups and that's all they use. 1st /2nd gear in manual/ and in an Auto they say lock in 2nd gear so that it will only chang 1/2 and not drop into 3rd this advice was given to me by a 4wd instructer that was conducting a tour on the day. Regards Steve M

Hi Trev88,
I was there a couple of weeks ago..my first time, I was in awe the size of the dunes are unbelieveable, there are 4bys,quads,bikes, everywhere...15 psi in your tyres should see you OK..the flag thing is a very good idea me personally I cut a flag out of an old safety vest got out me nigger rod and gaffer taped to my roobar worked
well cost me nothing..snatch strap and long handled shovel..traveling partner essential..take note of your travels on
the beach as when its time to leave it gets confusing especially after the fun has been had and it all looks the the same trust me!! heading south on
the beach you have the wreck of the Sygna which blew aground in 1974 during a bad storm..also if your there at the right time you can see hang gliders flying around
newcastle headland in the distance, then back up
the beach you have the silver city fishing hut worth a look..and up the northern end you have
tank traps put there to keep them out and us in...must have worked where still here.anyway permits for
the beach for a day cost $5.00 or if you are disabled there free we got ours from the petrol stn on roundabout at Lavis Lne,Have fun be carefull.

Hi there Trev forgot to mention make sure you have a full
tank prior to going on
the beach, they like to have a big drink when playing in the
sand dunes. Beach is approx 36 klm long but can be hard work if the sand is very boggy. Take note that if you go up there again the dunes will be different due to wind etc. Also try to avoid turning your steering wheel quickly as this can lead to a roll over and also a chance you will run the tyre off the rim. Take Care have a great day Steve M

Momentum, try not to spin the
wheels, and as mentioned above check every dune at the top before you go over. Also the dunes can be decieving with the sun glare, it looks flat at times, and you cant see bowls, sudden dips etc.
Take heaps of
water and have fun.
Cheers Paul..
