my kids were just searching the net for travel games to keep them amused in the car on trips and they came across this site
http://www.travelmate.com.au/FunTrip/FunTrip.asp
there are many games to help stop the boredom for all ages to print off or just give you ideas,
well worth a look. good luck.

Anything that keeps the kids happy makes the trip a lot more fun for all. Before we go we all put in $5 (actualy I put in the whole $25) and have a pool on how many native animals we will see on the trip, then keep a log, at the end of the trip, the closest guess wins....my 4 yr old won with what I thought was a wild guess of 500, actualy around 440. It's just something else to keep
young minds busy...and the kids too.

Take a bag of Freddo Frogs, every time the kids get narky dad gets to eat one... They soon work out how many are left and suddenly everyone has a great trip...Haven't tried it yet, read it in a "good" parenting book...

Earlier this year we bought a Omni portable DVD player off E bay and it was the best money l've ever spent..with lots of copied movies we never hear boo from the backseat.
( l really bought it for work but let the kids use it sometimes.)
Bros might comment on this...: )

We have a DVD player with two screens that attach to the back of the headrests and both screens operate independantly. It also came with a control with 25 games (mostly older arcade type) and one child can watch movies while the other plays games.
Used to rely on eye spy and stuff like that but with creative spelling from younger children and a lack of new items to guess we we're getting a little frustrated.
The DVD player has been great for our 3yr old she doesn't get car sick anymore (but for some it apparently makes them sick)
Over all makes for a peaceful trip.

yes we finally bought a portable dvd player (my hubby has wanted one for ages, another gadget), we did a short trip to
Adelaide and soon found out that we needed head phones for it, i now know all the words to a movie i still haven't watched. we are heading off tomorrow and i think the kids are more excited about watching dvds on the way than going on a holiday. i do agree that as soon as we arrive then off it goes. i'm still trying to tell my kids that sony play stations etc are banned from
camping, we can always play a game if it's raining etc. have fun and peaceful driving.
