Yes Russell, the Creb track is still open. Its condition at the moment I am unaware of but generally it is passable unless there are unseasonal rains. Trailers are also usually no problem.

Russell I have travellrd the creb several times now. There is a gate on the southern end but is not normally locked. The track if it is not wet is usually easy to medium driving .The easiest way being from north to south.Due to very steep hills and red mud it is not a good track to take after rain . The road is not sign posted from either direction but is easy to find with a good map.(cape York)

Thanks for the reply, just one question is why do you say it is easier going from North to South? Is it because of the lie of the land or something like that? Thanks again.

Russell from the Daintree river crossing it is quite a steep drive up the mountain and if there has been any rain this will be very slippery. Coming from the north the hills although still steep have faster lead ups if need be. Plus the view going this way is better. If it is dry it would be possible to do this track in 2wd. I have a GQ patrol diesel and towed a trailer.I hope this is helpful. It is certainly a slow but worthwhile drive.

Hi Russell, I have just come back thru the CREB track 24\6\01 very wet and slippery. We did a round trip tour from Cains, Daintree, Bloofield over night at the Lions Den Hotel at Helenvale and back down the Creb track next day. We would not have been able to get thru without mud\snow chains. Please do not underestimate the CREB track, a great drive but to be treated with respect. Please feel free to call for any info when you are up this way.
Cheers Rob
