G'day all. I need to find a good
camping area around Cowra, give or take 50km's. My family is spread out all over the place and we have decided that Cowra is nearly central to all of us, so are looking for a good
camping area that will cater to 4 families with children between the ages of 1 and 12 years. Any help would be great.

Hi Bootha,
Wyangala Dam would be ok, not alot of water in I think about 17%, big area for kids to run around, they have a water slide there but not open as i type but a phone call would find that information. Fishing can be done., There are cabins, or
camp ground, shady trees, a childrens playground, not sure what equipment is there now as I haven't been out for a few years. It's about 20-30mins run from Cowra. I could get some phone no. if you require it. Very popular at
Easter and Christmas holidays and long weekends. There is also a national park between Cowra and
Grenfell, again approx 20min drive, I haven't been to this NP but someone else may be able to fill you in. hope this helps, Cheers Michele

Thanks Michele. I have had a look on the net and it could be just the place we're looking for. One of my sisters and her husband are not exactly thrilled by the idea of camping so the cabins will come in very handy if I can't talk them into finding out how great REAL camping is. Thanks again. Bootha.

Just so you know, Cowra and the upper reaches of the
Lachlan river which feed Wyangala are currently in flood, They have had record rain, the
dam was 12% two weeks ago and is now 25% + and still filling up rapidly. I should know, I have my 4bie bogged out here right now, 2 days of digging so far. Everything is as green as green can be.
