I'm looking into getting a fridge and reading the posts it appears that the Engel is the bees knees, anyway came across one on Ebay with only a day left and it's sitting on $970. Is this a good price, not sure but I thought I saw them going for $1000 somewhere. What is the cover worth.

Okay, just checked ebay, its a 40ltr 40th anniversary model. You can buy these brand new from Boots Outdoors for $1199 including the transit bag and a slide-lok. The slide-lok is worth about $85, or worth nothing at all if you won't be using it. Not sure what the transi bag is worth, but would guess about $150.

Chances are that this ebay item will increase in price dramatically in the last 2 minutes of the auction - most items do that!

You can buy it from Lyall Eales Disposals in Shepparton at the moment for $995 as advertised in the Shepparton News for the past few weeks.

They are having a closing down sale.

Rays Outdoors matched it for someone else I know.

I picked up his fridge, Engel bag for it and a camp oven the last Saturday for $1170.

If you are willing to get a waeco, check out fridgeshop.com.au. I have never heard a bad word about them and they sell fridges with warranty for cheaper than I have seen anywhere- new or second hand.

I think Ray's was selling the 40 ltr for $1000 sans cover. The Ebay job seems a bit over the top for second hand but then again it is an Engel

Rays' special deal was actually cheaper....$899 or $920 or something like that for a 39 litre.

Sgt Dan,
Engel are a fantastic fridge. Ours have been going basically non stop for the last 12 years, all kinds and of trips and some of the roughest tracks and roads. But I think imo that this is alittle expensive. And as someone has said that being ebay, it will dramatially rise at the very end. Up to you though.

Thanks guys, it would appear that it may be bit on the steep side for a second hand unit. I'll ask around regarding the best price available for a new one. After reading a lot of debate here in other posts one has to read between so lines so I decided to go with the Engel for quailty and reliability.
Thanks again
