I have 91 Nissan Terrano TD27 engine, manual. I have recently (6 months) put in a new clutch, A friend of mine who is a 3rd year apprentice mechanic adjusted it by shortening the rod on the pedal. But now it is slipping again. Do I just shorten the rod even furthur or do i have a dud clutch? (It has done no hard work since then).
Other T1 drivers might be able to shed some light. As far as i can tell the T1 has a hydrolic clutch, is the only adjustment done on the pedal????
Thanks

The rod just adjusts peddle height from memory and the hyd system is self-adjusting. You might try re-bleading the clutch system. I have a T2 and I think the system is basically the same.
Could the clutch facings have got contaminated with oil? did you replace the engine rear oil seal when the gearbox was off?

I bought a clutch kit for mine from a parts supplier to do it myself, but ended up taking it to a clutch specialist to have it fitted. Turned out the kit would fit but his opinion was that it wouldnt last long as the pressure plate was for a non turboed 2.7 diesel and the turbo models need a heavier duty plate to handle the extra bit of torque.

Now that i think about it, i don't think that the parts guy was all that confident on the clutch kit.
The flywheel was not machined

Regarding the TII (maybe the TI is the same part no.) ... I have been told by the guys at Coventry that there are 2 different kits and you have to get the right one which is designated by the VIN.
There is something strange happening with my TII clutch pedal in that the pedal doesn't come right back, and gradually ends up staying halfway to the floor. Then it won't go into 1st gear from start. I have to pull it back with my foot and then it's OK.
Suspecting a worn clutch and starting price enquiries, I actually found that Nissan were the cheapest supplier.

Oskar, check the clutch pedal pivot bracket for cracks.

Mine was exactly the same but was cured following a clutch replacement and the hyd system getting a good flush and bleed.

From memory, looking in the parts catalogue that the clutch guy had, a n/a navara, terrano I (turbo diesel) and the terrano II (intercooled turbo diesel) all have different kits.
