Coil Springs-King or Ironman

Glen, I have used King springs on three patrols and have found them to be long lasting and strong. Don't know anything about Ironman though.

Glen, I've got Kings at the moment, no complaints, but I also have Polyairs on my Patrol for 60K and had them in a Jack of 120K before that. Very effective if you have a variable load requirement. Talking to a few others who have had the bags installed by others (professionals), they have one thing in common; none of them have ever RTFM. One mate had them put in a LX470, was never given the manual and was told to do everything exactly 100% incorrect by the installer. Eg: Load vehicle first, then inflate to max pressure etc etc. Christ knows how they were installed. I sent him back to get the manual. I have no doubt these bags fail but I'll bet a lot of it is user error. I have installed both sets myself, it's not hard and I'm confident the nozzles won't be ripped out or an air hose snagged etc, all of which can happen if you don't do it with your own safety in mind.

Yup, I'll agree with others, I have had Dobinson and Kings, and TJM Series 2k...
I'll go Kings again no probs, flex like abitch!

I ad an excellent run from Ironman at a great price and theyre better quality now than then, i'd give them a run.

Put Polyairs in my LC100 IFS T/D 18 months ago - tow a Kimberley Kamper - It has never handled better (Simpson/Cape York etc) With the Polyairs I have Heavy Duty OME Springs and Shocks. I think the secret is to measure the height, pump up the Polyairs, load the truck and trailer and recheck height - you can then let out some air - becomes trial and error and you will soon know exactly how much air to start with. Have done over 30,000kms - never looked like causing a problem. Probably the single BEST item I have fitted to my truck since we have had the Camper

Correct me if i'm wrong, (i often am) but don't Kings and Ironman get their springs made by the same spring manufacturer.

There are 2 major spring makers here in Oz . Dobsons and Kings , both are good , but no mater how good your springs are , when you over load them , they will sag after a year or so . I usually change springs ,then on about half way through the second year , I add a packer to take up the loss in hight , then go for a new set on the 3rd year.

Just to clear it up

Kings and Ironman are different springs. Kings have a factory on the Gold coast where there springs are made. Ironman coils are not made there.

I was half right ;-))))

Kings are Australian made,Iron man imported from Asia.
Kings repainted are also used by Lovells I believe.
Iron man was initially rubbish,I would think probably better now but Kings can be relied on completely.
