Hi All,
On the weekend just gone,I went 4wd driving track grade tilting each side of a B I climbed a very steep section of track with ease...most took the easier option.Then about 2Ks later on the smallest of obstacales I couldnt get up...must admit I was a bit shocked,as my rig is a true mountain climber..anyway sitting there acessing my option as how to go forward..blocking out the miriad of advise that come from your travell buddies..except the ones you know know their stuff..I thought I would lower my tyre presures for some more grip as I was still on hwy pressures.And was shocked to find my tyres were 20 pounds above what I run them at.Now that was the reason behind this post,you hear all the people saying drop your pressures going on and then Its dont forget to pump them back up...DONT TAKE FOR GRANTED THE GAUGE AT PETROL STN IS RITE..as I did..ok, on the roundabout on lavis lne.

The tyre gauage is about 10 - 15 psi out at Levis lane -Pumped every tyre up to 40 using there guage - when tested with min they were all over the shop- EVERY 4x4 should have its own pressure guage - i keep mine in my glove box - and i NEVER go by the service station guages.

BTW -- i have reasd this line 5 times , and it makes NO sence to me at all

I have never relyed on servos trye gauges I carry my own.
I also wondered what that line was.

Hi All,
I suppose you had to be there,20 psi above, my tyres must have been rock hard...which retards the grip...so I thought to myself how in the hell did I get up the first very steep dirt come rock face climb then only to be stoped by somthing minor.I to cary a pressure gauge but as I said Itook it for granted that their gauge was rite...so...I posted the warning to hi-light..check your tyres with known good gauge I was lucky at those pressures staking the tyres would have been very easy.Hope this clarifies your confusion,

HI All,
The first sentence refers to the long weekend just gone with a track grade of ( B) now with our group of drivers I 4wd with we grade the tracks to the average you ecounter with the possability ( - B + ) B+ refers to possible winching so B- refers to lessor challenging.....now last time I put air into my tyres was at lavis lne petrol stn stockton beach which was a trip I done 3 weeks ago...so the first time I checked them was when I got momemtarily delayed which the first sentence refers to.Now I hope everybody can understand what I was Saying...Sooo Hwy I generally run 40 psi after lavis lne they were 60psi which I discovered when I got stuck...then I droped them to 30 psi and my truck just pulled up and out of there..so I posted the warning for others I was lucky, but shorly you can see the possability for disarster.
